The Brady Factor
Our gift from God: Our Bradyfactor. What would we do without good ol BraBra? These are events that we encounter in our day to day activities with our children. AND, our lessons we learn and mistakes we make. We'd like to share with you in hopes that it will help someone else...with a crazy yet loving 2 year old and middle child.

The Newest
Just a little update as I haven't been on in a while. Brady is 4 now! Growing like a weed, though his little brother is only 8 lbs lighter. He's still doing well in school and looking forward to his last year at Mt. Zion next year.
So the latest update is not unlike the usual. Yesterday, while I Wong inside to get a cookie for Carson, B rode his 4 wheeler to the side of the house. I came out and heard him, not really going anywhere, and when I rounded the corner I saw a frustrating sight (the norm). With motor running, a hose was stuck in the gas tank turned on full blast. Needless to say I hurriedly turned off the engine and then the gas itself. Hopefully Kevin will be able to get the water out of the system.
On a somewhat lighter note, the boys got up before us Sundat. I showered instead of checking on them first (first mistake). When I did check in they had gone outside and were in Kevin's car. Got them inside and changed clothes for church. While dressing B he informed me Tony (our cat) was in the van. I questioned him and he wavered back and forth. To be on the safe side I thought I should check. Yep, there he was in my window meowing. Brady said he was going to church with us.
I keep thinking what else can he do that he hadn't already. I need to stop as there is just no end to his antics. My neighbor calls him Dennis the Menace. What will the next episode hold?

3 yr old update: Starting School back
So, it's been a long time. I've thought so many times, "I need to blog that, and I need to blog this," but to no avail...it hasn't happened. So, this will be a post with many updates, again for a while I'm sure.
Today, I had a hilarious event with Brady. To set this up, he did not sleep much last night and was very tired when we were leaving the grocery store. He was having a bit of a fit in the car trying to get into his seat, tried to throw the stroller at me and was just being naughty. So, very quietly I rubbed his head as he was crying and held his hand and said, "Brady, you need to ask Jesus to help you." Brady, "Jesus, help mommy get off of me."
I couldn't help it. I kracked up and laughed all the way home. I did quickly tell him he needs to ask Jesus to help him be good and calm. Think he got that? Yeah, right.
Brady is starting his second year in preschool. He has grown up a lot over the summer and is potty trained!!!! Mrs P. is going to be so happy. He is counting, though he does skip 4. I think Kendra did that too. He knows his shapes and colors. Personally, I think he knew them at the end of the year but is one of those kids who does what he wants (you think!?). He probably knew them but just didn't want to show he did.

Really Potty Training
So, I figured there was no time like the present. Summer is here and he will be going back to school in the fall. It would be so nice to not have to take pull ups and even better, to only have 1 child in diapers. Oh, that would be so nice!
Yesterday was the first full day we had just underwear on. He did awesome! Brady is one of the those, do it all the way or nothing children. Take swimming; You take his swim top off and he actually swims. Well, he has to or he will drown. The first time we did it I was scared to death. However, he was trying to swim in the pool with his face in the water like daddy. He was having a hard time because his top allows him to float. We took it off and he bobbed up and down in the water like a little fish. He doesn't have the exact concept but he is learning.
So, what the heck. Let's just do it all the way with potty training. I, personally, think that is how you have to do it anyway. He refuses to go to the bathroom if he has a diaper on. He will pee and poop in the diaper all day. But, put a pair of underwear on him and he will pee...maybe in the yard, maybe on the deck...lol...but he will do it.
Yesterday was pretty much a success. He peed most of the day. I kept him in underwear for church (what was I thinking!?) and he went potty 3 times! I kept him in them during nap - with slight reservation - but he made it through! He pooped 2 times also! WOW! Today, well there has to be a few accidents. He has already peed once in them only after having the underwear on for 20 minutes. But, I will keep trudging on and hope that we do not have any more poop stories to add to our collection.

Another Day, Something New!
Once again Brady would not go to sleep when he went down for his nap. I don't really care anymore just as long as he isn't screaming, like something is wrong, and he stays in his room. This particular day he was just acting more Brady than usually. I should have checked on him. Actually, I had once...maybe twice come to think of it, and he was just playing.
Well, he didn't get up until Kendra came home from school this day and she went to get him as she does sometimes. When she got up there she yelled for me to come and see what he did. Great! That is my first thought that pops in my head these days. (An aside: I'm learning to love him totally know matter what he does because he is my precious gift from God.) To make a long story short, he pooped again and used Kendra's shirt to wipe himself (sooooo nasty) but he is learning (LOL!!) and he threw several items out of the window into the gutter (YES, on the roof). That was a first! I really thought I had locked the window but I'm going to say I don't think I did. Kevin said he will be nailing the window down ASAP. :-)
Lesson: There is always more that can happen. Just be prepared as you can be and roll with it. :-) God will always take care of you.
